Nancy G. Echavez, division chief of the Business Development Division (BDD-DTI LDN), thanked the participants who came from the municipalities of Pantar, Matungao, and Balo-i, this province, for their enthusiasm to attend the training at the DTI-Iligan Training Room.

While Angelo A. Devero, senior trade and industry development specialist (STIDS) of the department’s Consumer Welfare Division (CWD), who served as the speaker of the event, explained the 5S originated from the Japanese words seiri or ‘sort,’ seiton or ‘set in order’, seiso or ‘shine,’ seiketsu or ‘standardize,’ and shitsuke or ‘sustain.’

Devero introduced and discussed the 5S of Good Housekeeping and how it would help make a standardized system in the organization and workplace. He also cited examples on waste elimination, saving time and making their daily activities efficient and effective.

The activity is anticipated to help improve the productivity of the organizations and the quality of their products, Devero added. Upon request, each organization was provided a copy of the presentation to review.

The participants were grateful for the opportunity and requested for more trainings where they can improve their skills and improve their livelihood projects.

Before formally ending the activity, the participants were told to re-echo their learnings to their members and create a standardized way of doing things in their organization. (Ara Arian A. Amar/BDD-DTI LDN/PIA-10 LDN)
