The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 10 activated its Quick Response Team (QRT) on 21 December 2017 at 3:00 in the afternoon in anticipation and preparation for the possible effects of the current weather disturbance inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility which is officially known as Tropical Storm Vinta.
DSWD Field Office 10 Regional Director, Nestor Briones Ramos, disclosed that DSWD has prepositioned its supplies of food and non-food items to all provinces of Northern Mindanao: Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental.
DSWD Field Office X has prepositioned 30,000 family food packs and has a standby fund of P3 million as its augmentation to the local government units responding to disaster operations. Ramos said the Field Office will also closely monitor and coordinate with local disaster risk reduction management offices of local government units as they are the first to respond during emergencies.
The Regional Director has also ordered all Municipal/ City Action Team Leaders in all 93 localities in Northern Mindanao to coordinate with their respective local disaster risk reduction management to assist the latter in its disaster response. (DSWD10)
