DOLE 10 holds wage consultation in Camiguin

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB)-10 in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Camiguin Provincial Field Office has recently conducted here a wage consultation forum for workers in the private sector.


DOLE-Camiguin chief Emmanuel G. Toledo reported that a total of 94 participants had attended, 33 of whom from the government sector, 54 were from the management and seven from labor.


The regional socio-economic situation and outlook were presented by Engr. Cecilio Y. Clarete of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10, while theupdates on the prices of basic goods and commodities were reported by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)- Camiguin Provincial Director Joselito Enot.


Associated Labor Union – Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP) Regional Union Representative Rosauro Pepito also discussed the labor group’s petition for minimum wage adjustment.


DOLE-10 Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao, CESO said, “I am very thankful of your positive response to our invitation for this wage consultation, pasabot lang nga importante gyud ni para sa inyo (meaning the issue is truly important to you).”


“The purpose of the activity is to hear the sentiments of the management and labor sector on the petition of ALU-TUCP for across the board wage increase of PhP 168.00 per day,” Suyao added.


Wage Board Labor Representatives Engr. Milbert M. Macarambon and Jose B. Ares facilitated the open forum.


The members of the board through the RTWPB-10 noted all the comments and recommendations of the public on the review of the current wage order, which shall be considered as inputs to the Board in the deliberations to be conducted after the Public Hearing on 26 April 2017 at Grand Caprice, Cagayan de Oro City.
