The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has spearheaded an Asean assembly for heigher education institutions (HEIs) to celebrate its 23rd founding anniversary and Higher Education Week starting May 15-19, 2017.
The weeklong celebration commenced with a motorcade which was participated in by the contingents of Cagayan de Oro-based Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), state universities and colleges (SUCs), and representatives of other HEIs in the region.
To give the participants a better understanding about Asean, a video showing followed by the presentation of flags of Asean-member countries by college students in Asean costumes capped the opening program.
As Philippine’s chairmanship coincides with a historic milestone event – the 50th founding anniversary of Asean – it behooves upon all sectors especially the HEIs to know the significance of the association. “The activity was intended to help bring the ASEAN consciousness to our higher education sector,” Baynaynal said.
“We are bringing the ASEAN consciousness to our higher education sector, he concluded.”
The higher education week celebration carries the theme, “Harmony in Diversity, Connecting with the ASEAN Community.”
