The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted the first ever “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” Jobs and Business fair at Grand Caprice Retaurant in Cagayan de Oro City on 1 May 2017 in celebration of the nationwide Labor Day.
The said business fair had a total of 240 attendees coming from the different provinces of region 10. In a statement given by the Regional Director of DTI-10 Linda O. Boniao, the purpose of the business fair is to help informal sectors have their own business through training and enhancement.
One of the programs highlighted by the DTI is the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (MSME) Development Program which enables competitive, job generating business and empowering consumers. According to the data presented by Boniao, 99% of the businesses in the country are MSMEs.
DTI also invited informal sectors to inquire and approach the Negosyo Centers in the region if they want to take the first step in starting a business or already entrepreneurs who would want to enhance business skills. Among the services offered are product development, business coaching, packaging and labelling, market development and promotion.
