Northern Mindanao’s congressional representatives expressed support to the region’s 2018 budget requirement of P154.919 Billion during the Regional Development Council (RDC-X) Advisory Committee meeting on April 24, 2017 in Cagayan de Oro City.
The said amount covers the FY 2018 proposed budgets of the region’s 28 agencies and six universities and colleges to implement priority programs and projects contained in the Regional Development Investment Program (RDIP) 2017-2022.
NEDA-X Director Leon M. Dacanay, Jr. presented the RDIP 2017-2022 with a six-year requirement of P693.968 billion with the biggest chunk (68%) intended for infrastructure development.
Governor Zubiri thanked the congressional representatives for their continuing support to the RDC and its budget priorities as manifested by an approval rate of 81 percent of RDC-endorsed agency budgets in 2017.
More than half of the budget requirements were allotted for the Social sector with P83.296 billion (53.8%), followed by the Infrastructure sector with P 62.473 billion (40.3%). The Economic and Macro sectors required a total of P 8.709 Billion (5.6%) and P 439.40 Million (0.3%), respectively.
Among agencies, the Department of Public Works and Highways had the biggest budget requirement of P58.511 billion followed by the Department of Education with P52.237 billion for 2018. (Peleta B. Abejo, NEDA-X/PIA-10)
