Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)–Bukidnon is currently conducting series of briefings to keep consumers and traders updated on Fair Trade Laws (FTL).
Throughout the early weeks of this month, two separate FTL sessions were held at Veranda, Casisang, Malaybalay City and at Valencia City Negosyo Center.
Likewise, another two FTL briefings will roll up on 27 April 2017 at Negosyo Center (NC) Maramag, and in NC Manolo Fortich on May 4.
DTI-Bukidnon Consumer Welfare Division Chief Eriberto Taban-ud Jr. said 30 participants from various business establishments and accredited consumer organizations in the province are expected in every session.
“We are urging accredited consumer organizations to join in this activity to have in-depth appreciation on consumers’ rights and responsibilities. In the same way, we encourage those who are already in business to join in such briefings because even if they are already entrepreneurs, yet they still are consumers. Both sectors are entitled to be updated especially on laws and trends in buying & selling,” he said.
The FTL sessions cover vital trade and industry laws such as Consumer Act of the Philippines and Price Act; Basic Consumer Rights and Responsibilities; Consumer Welfare Desk Program and the DTI Bagwis program, among other trade-related issues.
In a statement, DTI- Bukidnon Provincial Director Ermedio J. Abang said the agency has been regularly conducting this activity since 2014 as a platform for participatory governance to ensure a People-Centered Governance under the 2017-2022 Philippine Development Plan.
“Interested consumers and entrepreneurs may visit the nearest Negosyo Centers in their area to attend and learn about the Fair Trade Laws,” Abang said.
He emphasized that these briefings are offered free and open to all, subject to pre-registration and confirmation. (MC Dominic Valdehuesa, DTI-Bukidnon/RLRB, PIA Bukidnon)
