Five were hired on the spot during the one-day Job Fair conducted by the municipal government here last Jan. 30 at the municipality’s Cultural Arts Center.
Remegio Cabaño, head of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Office said the three were taken on by the Rural Transit Mindanao, Inc., Tru Firce International Manpower,Inc., and Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corp. (MEISCOR), respectively.
Helen L. Tangcalagan, 36, married with two children and a resident of Limot Village, Poblacion, Tubod, Lanao del Norte was hired by MEISCOR as a poject nurse.
Tangcalagan is currently working as a nurse reliever with no fixed income. She said: “Malipayon kaayo ko nga niabot ni nga higayon sa akong kinabuhi nga ako natagaan na ug trabaho (I’m very happy that I finally find a job).”
She also expressed her gratitude to DOLE and the municipal leadership for organizing the jobs fair.
The jobs fair, Cabañog said, was participated in by three local companies and nine overseas companies.
Government agencies such as the Philippines Overseas Employment Agency (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Agency (OWWA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also participated in the said activity.
