The National Food Authority (NFA) Misamis Oriental has assured the public that there is enough supply of rice for the province of Misamis Oriental which was affected by the recent flooding.
Provincial Manager Marla E. Santos said that the agency closely monitor the market for sufficient supply of rice to the consuming public and has dispatched price monitoring teams in the province and all major markets of Cagayan de Oro City to ensure that the agency’s low-priced good quality rice is continuously available.
However, there will be no speculation to drive the price of rice in the markets. Prices of rice have normalized despite the recent flooding.
The agency, meanwhile, has released 2,300 bags of NFA rice for stocking purposes by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) before the occurrence of the calamity and another 500 bags withdrawn on January 19, 2017.
Santos has visited the offices of DSWD Field Office in Northern Mindanao, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor’s Office, Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and the Governor’s office of Misamis Oriental to make a courtesy call and informed these agencies that NFA have sufficient stocks of rice to address the need during calamities.
