The Department of Agriculture (DA) released more than P209 million worth of agriculture projects and equipment to various farmers’ groups and local government units in Bukidnon.
In a grand ceremony held recently at Northern Mindanao Agricultural Crops and Livestock Research Complex (NMACLRC) Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Pinol delivered President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s “Tapatan: Gobyerno at Mamamayan” program, and led the “Tapatan Interaction” with farmers and aggie stakeholders.
“In order to cope with our neighboring countries in terms of productivity, we need to move further into farm mechanization like “state-of-the-art” cassava chipper and granulator, feed mixers, corn sheller, and other postharvest equipment that would help boost farmers’ productivity for priority crops,” the Secretary said.
Highlighting the event is the “mass distribution” of rice and corn seeds, farm implements and tools, farm machineries, livestock, postharvest facilities, and farm-to-market road project funds.
Bukidnon’s 1st District municipalities received a total of P2.9 million; P8.9 million for 2nd District towns; P194 million for 3rd District; and 3.2 million for the 4th District.
Included in the total amount received by Damulog town in 3rd District is the P188,411,870.61 cost for concreting and rehabilitation of its 13.64 kilometer farm-to-market road projects in Sinayaran, Pocopoco, and Tangkulan sub-villages.
The agency’s released farm machineries comprised 33 power tiller-turtle type; 26 units water pump and engine; 5 units cassava chipper and 2 cassava granulators; one hammer mill and 3 feed mixers; two units Vermi separator for organic agriculture with funds for organic fertilizer production; and one unit of corn sheller and corn mill.
Likewise, provision of livestock and draft animals include carabao, sheep, cattle/bull, quail for egg-production, and goat multipliers, among others.
Leaders and members of farmers’ associations and cooperatives, municipal mayors, governors and congressional representatives from various parts of Bukidnon participated in the event.
