DTI 10 opens 15th, 16th Negosyo Centers

In its continuous efforts in carrying its mandate of enabling the Micro, Small and Medium Entreprises (MSMEs) in Northern Mindanao, the Department of Trade and Industry – Region 10 launched two more Negosyo Centers in Lanao del Norte on 16 September 2016.

Located in the municipalities of Kapatagan and Lala, the launching of these Negosyo Centers marked the 15th and 16th in the region, and 289th and 290th in the country, respectively, since the implementation of Republic Act 10644 otherwise known as the “Go Negosyo Act” in 2014, authored by Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino.

Both launchings were attended by a representative from the office of Sen. Bam Aquino, Luke Buniel, DTI Region 10 Director Linda O. Boniao, DTI Lanao del Norte Provincial Director Ruel B. Paclipan, a representative from the office of Congressman Abdullah Dimaporo, and lawyer Donato Calica.

The launchings were hosted by the local government units (LGUs) where they are located, strengthening the partnership between DTI and the LGUs in ensuring the ease of doing business in the cities and municipalities in Region 10.

Kapatagan Mayor Barry Baguio highlighted in his message the municipality’s appreciation in the launching of the Negosyo Center.

“Today’s launching is a testament of the efforts of DTI and Senator Bam Aquino to further advance the economy of Kapatagan,” said the mayor.

Meanwhile during the launching in Lala, Mayor Allan Lim recalled a conversation he had with director Boniao on how the mud crabs and prawns from their municipality is traveled and sold at the neighboring cities and municipalities.

He mentioned how he foresees the Negosyo Center helping their citizens in marketing and promoting these products.

Both Negosyo Centers are strategically located in their respective municipalities; Kapatagan’s Negosyo Center was dubbed by Buniel as “one of the best Negosyo Centers in the country in terms of location,” being located right in the middle of the municipality which also happens to be the Pasalubong Center.

On the other hand, Lala’s Negosyo Center was intentionally placed by mayor Lim near the Municipal Hall to make business registration easier for their citizens.

As Atty. Calica mentioned in his message, “RA 10644 is DTI’s solution to poverty, it is then the citizens of Lanao del Norte’s task to make use of these newly launched Negosyo Centers.” (Alren Gem Gay T. Neri/DTI-10)
